moodboard + other obsessions / ii

i like pink. there's something about the colour that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. it is summer nights and cotton candy sunsets and anxiety-free days. it is the feeling of being drunk on happiness and the sound of laughter. i think these are things everybody needs to enjoy, and for me, the colour pink represents all of these. which is why it irks me to the max when people scoff and say that pink is just for girls – apparently in our society today, colours have gender. but that's a whole other issue. i'll leave it alone for now.

below is a compilation of some things i've been obsessed with this past january:

films –

brooklyn

i watched brooklyn only a few days ago and the thing i liked most about the film was the soundtrack. i don't even know why, but in the end, when the credits began to roll, the orchestra that was playing sounded so beautiful and it worked so well with the cinematography of the film that i was just hit in the feels. it wrapped up the whole thing so perfectly.

also, domhnall glesson looked hella fine in the movie.

nightcrawler

this film isn't new (it came out in 2014), but that doesn't stop me from including it in this list of current obsessions. nightcrawler is pure genius – jake gyllenhaal pulls off a brilliant performance (which i think has been completely overlooked) and the cinematography works in tandem with jake's transformation to give off this Really Creepy Vibe. it's intense. really intense. but that's why i love it.

music –

winner released a single on january 11 and i love it to bits. the fact that it's written by mino and that mino actually god damn sings in this song makes it 1025 times better.

people –

amandla stenberg in teen vogue. need i say more?

and a quote by her that really resonates with me:
"here i am being myself and it's definitely hard and vulnerable and it's definitely a process, but i'm learning and i'm growing."

that's all for this post.

big bang - made world tour

on july 24 i saw big bang live in kuala lumpur and it was a beautiful night.

i have been waiting for a really long time (3 years) to see them in concert and i've always missed it because if they were going to china, i wouldn't be in the country, and it was the same with if they were in malaysia. but when i found out that i'd be in malaysia at the same time as them i freaked out and just had to buy tickets (much to the sadness of my dad and his wallet).

i watched it alone, so it was a different experience from the three previous concerts i've attended before with my friends. yet it wasn't just the fact that i was by myself that made it a different experience - big bang's stage presence is unlike any other. i love how they alter their songs to make it different from the original, track version. i love how colourful their set is. i love their energy, the vibe they give off. it's indescribable.

daesung is adorable.

the section where i was seated was actually pretty decent, and i'm really happy with how my photos turned out. but when they would come over by the side-stage-thing, the people in  the first row of my section were the luckiest, as they were on the same level as the band memebers and could make eye contact with them (!!!)

after the concert the taxis started charging us (parents + i) crazy prices for a not-so-long ride home, and a girl and a guy who were together approached us, asking if we wanted to split a cab. naturally, we said yes as we were desperate to escape the liverpool crowds (there was a liverpool game happening in the arena just beside us). the girl was in the rock zone during the concert, and were crazy close to big bang, and she airdropped me a whole bunch of g-dragon photos (because we both love him very much). we fangirled over the concert and the band and had some pretty interesting conversations and it was really nice to be able to bond with a stranger over a mutual love for five korean guys.

it was the best night of my life. and i'm not exaggerating when i say that.

over and out,
alexius.

also, i apologise profusely for that horrendous, lopsided layout above. i'm a nightmare with html (meaning: i don't understand jack about it) and i do not know how to solve this problem so bear with me.

post-exam fĂȘte - a playlist

exams are FINALLY over, and to celebrate this wondrous event (and to take my mind off the fact that i completely failed my chemistry paper ii), i have created a playlist.

now all i have left to do in the week is my tok presentation, history presentation, chemistry ia and biology ia.

ib is going to make me so smart. if it doesn't kill me first.

over and out,
alexius.

moodboard + other obsessions / i

well, it's pretty darn obvious; winter really is gone, which means no more bus rides spent looking out the window at grey skies and pretending i'm in an indie music video. no more oversized sweaters and warm, cozy rooms.

needless to say, i'm pretty sad about that.

so in a meagre attempt to make myself less sad, i created this moodboard, inspired by the colours and images i associate with winter.

recently, i've become quite infatuated with a number of things:

music / video -

there's not much to say about this. if you haven't watched it, watch it. but basically, the moral of the story is that matt healy should not be allowed to be this perfect.

photography -

i discovered carissa gallo's tumblr a few days ago and was absolutely mesmerised by her photography. i'd seen some of her work in kinfolk before, but had never known her actual name (i know, i know). she is one half of seachant & co., and together with andrew gallo, she has created some of the most beautiful films i have ever seen.

go check out her portfolio if you like pretty pictures.

other -
i have been staring at this picture for an unhealthily long amount of time because leonardo dicaprio.

till next time,
alexius.
